    December 13, 2021 / 0 Comments

As you know, if you have read my posts before, I love to share what I’m reading that I have found helpful. Today I share several I believe you will find helpful. (By the way, this banner photo reminds me, warmer weather will come! I am seeking to be grateful for the cold weather and dead looking trees during this winter, but I always look forward to the spring days when I see new leaves beginning to break out onto those trees again!) 1 I love reading about leadership and one of my fav bloggers is Carey Nieuwhof, so I am sharing a great post he write that I believe…

    Time for Blog Sharing

    July 5, 2021 / 0 Comments

Here are a few great posts I wanted to share this week to encourage you to read lots of bloggers’ material. Enjoy! 1. Although I feel all Christians are called to ministry, full time even, I do believe some are called to serve in vocational ministry as a career. Either way, this is a list for all to consider, from LifeWay Voices. Am I Called to Ministry? A Checklist to Consider by Dr. Jason Allen 2. Church is changing at such a fast pace. I love reading Carey’s posts that alert leaders about trends to consider for discovering how God wants our church to reach people in today’s world. 11…

First I want to share such a timely and helpful post from LifeWay Women: Leading Women in Prayer by Kelly King. Kelly is Manager of Magazines/Devotional Publishing and Women’s Ministry Training for Lifeway Christian Resources and one super lady leading women across the country during this difficult pandemic season. I know this will encourage you. Then, I want to share this second blog because I believe that many leaders have doubted their ability to continue serving during this last 12+ months. I know you will be blessed by reading 5 Leadership Lessons From Gideon from LifeWay Voices by Chuck Peters. No matter where you serve, remember that God is still…

    Pandemic Panic

    May 25, 2020 / 0 Comments

I recently wrote a post for Revive Our Hearts leadership blog. A Veteran’s Wisdom for Ministry in a Pandemic. I am so grateful for an opportunity to serve women’s leaders, especially as we face ministry challenges in this pandemic confinement. If you are challenged by having to learn new “ways” to connect and serve Christ, please head over to their blog to read! Today, I will link to that here. Leader Connection Blog is a great one to follow! Also, check out their leadership page and ask to join their private group. Here you can see all their women’s leadership resources. P.S. I previously wrote more detail on my technology…

    “The Ministry of the Unnoticed”

    September 2, 2019 / 1 Comment

What did you think when you read this title? It’s not mine. Credit for this title goes to Oswald Chambers. I’ve been reading his devotional, My Utmost for His Highest each night this year…again! When I read the title at the end of the day on August 21, I kind of hesitated, wondering if I really wanted to read this! But I did, and am so glad. I included it here for you to read as well. Notice especially the middle paragraph and this sentence: “If I wonder if I am being of any use to God, I instantly lose the beauty and the freshness of the touch of the…

    When Social Media Isn’t “Social”

    June 24, 2019 / 2 Comments

Have you ever been misunderstood, criticized or even attacked on social media? It’s painful, is’t it? It’s frustrating when someone assumes they know your intent better than you do. Without hearing the sound of our voice, a person doesn’t really know how we said what we said. Often we think that our own opinion is the only one that is correct and assume we know what is best for someone else. I was on the opposite side of this coin recently. Someone asked a question whether we’d ever had a man in our lives who has encouraged our leadership as a woman. I responded with the name of a former…

    Teamwork That Works!

    June 10, 2019 / 1 Comment

We have quite a menagerie behind our house that includes deer, squirrels, rabbits, birds, ground hogs and sometimes a fox. So we enjoy watching nature at work before our eyes. This past week I was working in my home office and heard my husband Pat say, “Well, that’s something I’ve never seen before!” When I asked what he’d seen, he said it was a squirrel scampering off with a peach in his mouth. Our neighbors have a peach tree that we have watched grow for several years, so that squirrel found himself a treasure. We’d noticed that although there had only been peaches hanging ON the tree and none on…

Ministry to Women…Then and Now…4 Things to Consider

    January 14, 2019 / 0 Comments

Last November at the LifeWay Women’s Leadership Forum I had the privilege to do a short video on the changes I’ve seen over the 40+ years of working with women in and through local church. Two aspects have changed greatly, as I mention in that video: fixed structure versus organic (continually evolving) ministry and events versus Bible study as the main focus. Structure: When I first began working with women in the church, we focused on how to structure a multifaceted ministry to reach various generations, life stages, and experiences of women. We had big org charts that showed who led the ministry. Then the next level showed leaders who…
