When God Shows Off
How do you pray when life feels overwhelming? Do you ask God to remove the burden—or to give you strength to endure it? Right now, I’m watching a loved one carry an incredibly heavy load. Several major life events have collided, creating a season filled with uncertainty and pain. Many are praying for this person and the family, myself included. I long for them to be free from these struggles, for healing and peace to come. My prayers often sound like, “Lord, give them strength. Give them wisdom. The Word on Waiting
As “waiting” has been on my heart, and in my advent study, I’ve also been working throuh a Melissa Spoelstra study on Isaiah. (Check the blog category for more on the topic of Waiting) Once again, the Lord has connected it all today as I was in Isaiah 49. The author’s focus was “we can trust God’s timing because He sent His Son, Jesus, just as He promised.” This message is very similar to what I’ve learned through the advent study, Our Hope Has Come! The Enemy is Alive and Well…But Defeated!
Even though I am continually aware of the influence of the enemy, along with his temptations, in our world today and I even understand that this is expected, more so as Christ’s return draws nearer…but once in a while, I’ve just had enough! After one evening’s disturbing end that included a crisis, my wakeful night included anger at the enemy…again…and continual prayers for his demise! He’s just so mean and my loathing for him just gets stronger each time I see him at work!
