A Breath of Fresh Air
For summer gals like me, winter is long and oh so cold, and my skin oh so dry! So, when I get a day here and there during winter months with sunshine and warmer weather, the kind where I get to go sit (often with #MoDawg) on our deck and look for animals in the woods, I’m there! It reminds me that spring will come, even if not yet! It gives me a moment to just catch my breath, feel the warmth on my face, and breath deeply.
At times, I need this reminder of spring. Kind of like in the middle of a long season of strife or just multiple circumstances that demand constant attention without a break. I enjoy “a breath of fresh air.” Ever since we returned from the beach last fall, it’s just been extremely hectic. Add to that some other unexpected things cropping up. It’s just been a long wintery season!
Sometimes God just pops the sun out from behind clouds to shine brightly on a gray day and remind me He’s still there in the clouds and storms, as I wrote in these posts, Behind the Clouds and Blessed in the Mess.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this kind of reminder and I know it won’t be the last, and I am so grateful for it this past week…plus it’s not long now till March! Spring is close, warm weather will return, but no matter what season it is, Jesus, our Great High Priest, is ALWAYS there, always present and compassionate. Always reminding that He’s not slow or absent in any way.
Hebrews 4:16 comforts on those cold, gray days:
“Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
So, I offer Him thanks for this very real reminder of His presence 365 days a year, even if it’s freezing outside!
