Settle In
I’m not sure how you feel about our country, or our global world, right now. With elections in the future, crime and violence, anger and hatred all over the news and filtering into whatever we watch, read or hear, we could just decide to go live on a tropical island somewhere away from it all! Tempting isn’t it? Definitely for this beach girl.
The thing is, God has not put us here to run away. He has placed us here to make a difference. He actually has a plan for us, for our lives and He wants us where He has placed us.
I read a post by Noe Garcia on Jeremiah 29:11, that most of us have often quoted. But he puts a spin to the meaning that we must consider. Here is his post, The Truth Behind America’s Life Verse.
When we look at this verse in context, we see that when we live in a culture that often disagrees with the Truths of God’s Word, God may tell us to “settle in” and influence for Him. As Noe Garcia said, Israel was to build houses, plant gardens and raise families in the midst of their captivity.
Knowing God is still in control is how we continue to walk in joy rather than despair and fear. I do NOT want to dread the days ahead in 2020. I want to deepen my faith in God’s sovereignty and ask Him, “what can I learn from You in the midst of even ‘wars and rumors of wars’, and what difference can I make?”
As I began preparing a message for a 2020 retreat, I shared this in my last post, Focus 2020. I have been so reminded of what a heart for Christ is supposed to look like. I’ve also been convicted by the fact that God holds HIS people, not the lost, responsible for impacting the world for Him.
How will you do that this year? How will I? Something to think about, huh? Definitely something to pray about.
Today’s post is short and to the point, because that is how He has spoken to me today.
