What Spiritual Maturity Looks Like

When you got up today, what was your plan? Did you have a personal agenda in place? At the end of this day, what if your plan doesn’t look anything like what actually happened? Will you feel like a failure? Or do you trust God worked it out according to His plan?

Do you believe what 2 Timothy 6:16 says:

God, who is the blessed controller of all things…”

Someone once said:

One of the marks of spiritual maturity is the quiet confidence that God is in control, without the need to understand why He does what He does. (anonymous)

Oops, well, my response many days proves my level of spiritual maturity isn’t what it should be!

What about you? Do you easily change from one plan to another as God leads you throughout the day, knowing He is in control?

I love Job’s reaction to God’s reminder of who He is!

Then Job replied to the LORD: I know that you can do anything and no plan of yours can be thwarted. Job 42:1-2

This was after he’d lost everything important to him and had no real answers from the Lord as to why. It took him a while to get this spiritually mature understanding of who God is, but he got there!

May we walk in the confidence that the Lord is sovereign even if we never fully understand the ‘whys’.

Thank you, Lord, that I do not need to figure it all out. That’s Your job! Forgive me when I fall apart when my plan falls apart! Help me trust you as I give you all control of my thoughts, words, and actions every day.
