Vessels of Christ
What is your favorite way to minister to others? What have you seen Jesus do through you as you obediently serve Him? Are you serving as God’s vessel daily?
Because God is sovereign and omnipotent He does not need any help to get His work done. He chooses to use His followers so we can shine His light in the world and experience the blessing that serving Christ brings to us and to those we serve on earth.
My ministry friend Kay led worship at many of our You Lead training events for LifeWay Women where I had the joy of serving for over 22 years. She also led in an opening devotional thought for leaders who attended the training.
One of my favorite devotionals she shared was from Ezekiel 37: 1-10. This was the story of Ezekiel and the dry bones that came back to life as he prophesied to them repeating exactly what God told him to say.
Her points have always stuck with me, probably because I served in ministry vocationally for about 35 years and loved training ministry leaders to serve! Here were Kay’s points:
- A Towering Truth: Only God can breathe life into dead places.
- Inconvenient Truth: When God does what God does in this world, He does it through people.
Here is the point I walked away with: God wants to use me today and everyday to touch the lives of others.
He wants to use you too. Offer Him every moment of your day, every day. Listen for Him to speak or prompt you. Give Him the glory since only He can truly bring about life in dead places as we shine His light.
You will be blessed, as you bless Jesus as His vessel, and as you bless others as you minister to them.
