The Timeliness of God’s Word

Sometimes it seems the Lord is silent, but other times He just floods you with common thoughts as you are facing challenges. He did that (again) recently.

I was finishing up the the two connected studies. Seven Realities for Experiencing God by Richard and Henry Blackaby and Experiencing God, upon which Seven Realities is based, also by the Blackabys and Claude King. I’ve spent weeks being reminded of how God speaks and calls us to work with Him, as well as making adjustments it takes to obey!

In facing a tough relationship circumstance, I’ve been asking God to show me how to obey in the situation. I’ve also been walking through Courtney Doctor’s study In View of God’s Mercies: The Gift of the Gospel in Romans. The week titled Mercy Transforms Us, which covered Romans 13-14, was especially convicting. These cover putting on Christ, the law of love and how that is our duty as Christians.

Then, there’s the fact that God led me to memorize Romans 8 this year. Think: There is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus! So, I know what the Lord is saying in my situation about having mercy and loving unconditionally, but it’s just hard some days to wait for answers. I also know that the enemy has his arrows pointed at us daily to cause us to trip up, not love.

This leads me to the two Sundays surrounding this same week when our pastor preached on spiritual warfare. In 1 Samuel, where my D-Group was currently reading at this time, we see David slay Goliath in the name of the Lord. We have the weapons to slay our Goliath’s as well because Jesus already won every victory over our enemy! Even when our Goliath’s seem to be overwhelming us!

One other thing that I just “happened” to read at this time is Sara Mae’s book, The Complicated Heart. I learned much about relationships.

Suffering and difficulties are a part of life, aren’t they? It’s actually something we share with Christ. Two passages especially show this.

Yes, God speaks, multiple times, multiple ways. Hear, listen, heed, trust, & take the next step. Watch God’s victory as you walk in His peace.
