Over the Nations
As I write this, we have come through one of the most frustrating and tumultuous weeks in our nation. How easy it would be to feel helpless and hopeless. How in the world did we get here?
I cannot answer that question, but I can say this, God knows, He allowed it, and He will use it. I am reading and journaling through Psalms right now. One morning recently, I came to Psalm 67…right in the middle of the that difficult week. Here is that Psalm…
May God be gracious to us and bless us;
may he make his face shine upon us Selah
so that your way may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, God;
let all the peoples praise you.
Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy,
for you judge the peoples with fairness
and lead the nations on earth. Selah
Let the peoples praise you, God,
let all the peoples praise you.
The earth has produced its harvest;
God, our God, blesses us.
God will bless us,
and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
One day, the final line of this psalm will come to pass. But notice, it begins by asking God to bless His people. The purpose for that blessing is so that His glory and salvation will be obvious on earth among ALL nations. As we worship Him, there will be harvest and one day, ALL peoples and nations will fear Him.
Bottom line, God is sovereign over ALL nations, including the USA! Believing that is the hope I cling to…every.single.day. Do you? Or is fear, or anxiety, or doubt clouding your view of our Savior in the midst of today’s issues?
Praising Him is the responsibility of Christ followers. How will you praise Him today so that the nations will know Him?
