Echoes of Legacy Part 1-Series Intro
Last year, I spent a significant amount of time reflecting on the past 40 years of women’s ministry—both from a personal and professional standpoint. In 2025, we celebrated the 30th LifeWay Women’s Forum. This leadership training began in 1996 and continues to thrive today, even if it looks much different now than it did at the start!
Through this reflection and the current season of my life, I’ve been thinking deeply about those who impacted my calling. I’ve also been considering what I am leaving behind for those following in my footsteps. To be honest, the older I get, the sweeter heaven becomes!
Discipleship has been at the heart of my journey ever since a woman spoke these simple words into my life: “Chris, if you will spend a little time every day in the Bible and in prayer, it will change your life.”
Looking back, I spent the first ten years of my faith journey without any concept of that truth. It seems strange to say now, as most of us are familiar with the idea of a “quiet time,” but back then, I simply didn’t know. Once I began to grow, I developed a deep desire to help other women who might be stuck in their spiritual walk because no one had shown them how to move forward.
The landscape of the church has changed immensely over the last 40 to 50 years. We now have incredible tools and training to help us mature in Christ. My own church has a consistent mission to reach the lost and equip them to become disciple-makers.
More than anything, I want women to know that Jesus is completely trustworthy. He always provides, and He has a specific purpose for every life on earth. If you are reading this, I believe you share that desire. That is why, over the next few weeks, I am starting a series called Echoes of Legacy.
It reminds me of one of my favorite songs by Big Daddy Weave, I’ve Just Seen Too Much:
“If you ask me how I know, I know He’s real… If you ask me why I trust Him when it feels like everything has come undone… All I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much.”
In this series, we will explore three main questions:
- Why are we compelled to echo our legacy?
- How do we leave a legacy that echoes into the future?
- What will my echo be?
This Echoes of Legacy series isn’t just for women in my stage of life; at any age, we are creating a legacy for those coming behind us. I hope you will join me as we embark on this journey together. Up next: Compelled by the Needs
